National Youth Award 2009

Recognize the achievements of the young people in their lives and to volunteers working for the welfare and development of the youth.

2. Types of Awards:
National Youth Award: Award for youth who excel their skills in different fields.

Jinnah Youth Award: Award for the volunteers/organization for their outstanding achievements in the field of youth welfare and development.

3. Eligibility:
Age limit for National Youth Award: Any Pakistani citizen of age 15-29 years.

Jinnah Youth Award: No age limit
4. Categories and Scope:
National Youth Award shall be conferred on Pakistani youth who have excelled in the following fields:

Literature
(prose and poetry in Urdu, English or in any regional language of Pakistan)

Culture
(Painting, Photography, Calligraphy, Pottery,Tapestry/Sculpture, Arts & Craft, Artesian, Instrumentalist, Performer, Dancer, Singer, Acting, Drama, Music, Puppetry, Stage, One Man Show Etc.)

Education
(All disciplines of education including research)

Science & Technology
(Medicines, Engineering, ICT, Physics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Inventions etc)

Sports
(all sports recognized by the government, including adventure sports).Business(entrepreneurs, businessmen, industrialists, exporters, manufacturers, traders etc)
Community Service(social work, media, civil society, gender mainstreaming, philanthropy, politics, good governance, special education and rehabilitation of special people etc.)Jinnah Youth Award(personalities or organizations working for the welfare of the youth)

Nominations for the Award
In the month of April every year, the ministry of youth affairs will invite nominations on the prescribed Performa through the following:

General public through open advertisement on website of the Ministry or Print Media.Ministries/Divisions.Governments.enrolled with M/O Youth Affairs. Through Higher Education Commission (HEC).related organizations through M/O Culture. Federations through M/O Sports. of Commerce through FPCCI of Intermediate & Secondary Education. and engineering institutes through Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and Pakistan Engineering Council(PEC).

Monetary Award
The award will comprise of a shield and a certificate accompanied by a monetary award of Rs. 50,000/- in each field.Occasion for Conferring AwardsThe awards shall be announced by the mid of July every year and

investiture ceremony shall be held on the occasion of international youth day i.e 12th August.

Selection Procedure.
Preliminary Selection Committee.


A preliminary selection committee headed by Joint Secretary, M/O Youth Affairs and comprising Deputy Secretary and concerned officer of the Ministry alongwith any two co-opted members (depending upon the area in which nominations received) of concerned organizations/ministries, were scrutinized and short listed the nominations to recommend three (3) persons in each category.

Final Selection Committee.
Following final selection committee, headed by the secretary, M/O Youth Affairs were selected and finalized nominations, recommended by scrutiny committee, for the approval of the federal minister incharge for youth affairs.

Award Distribution Ceremony.

The investiture ceremony of National Youth Award - 2009 was held in National Library Auditorium, Islamabad on 12 August, 2009. Chairman, Senator of Pakistan was invited as Chief Guest. He distributed the awards among the awardees in different categories. This ceremony was held in a befitting manner.
