In order to promote national integration and harmony among the young generation of the country and also to provide them an opportunity to share their experiences, the Ministry of Youth Affairs had organized a National Youth Convention at Islamabad on 18-19 July, 2005. The Convention was inaugurated by the then President of Pakistan and the then Prime Minister was the Chief Guest on the closing session. The then Prime Minister was during his speech was pleased to direct that the number of delegates may be increased from 2 to 10 from each district and youth convention be held at the provincial headquarters by rotation for national integration and creating harmony.
In pursuance of the then PM directive, it was decided that the first convention may be held at Quetta. All arrangements in this regard, were made in consultation with the Youth Affairs Department, Govt. of Balochistan and a summary was submitted to the then President of Pakistan with the request to grace the occasion as chief guest in the inaugural session. The then President of Pakistan was pleased to agree to hold the convention in the 2 week of May, 2007. However, letter received from the President Secretariat in this regard was withdrawn. After that it was decided that the convention may be organized on 27-28 June, 2007 at Quetta, but it was postponed at the last moment on the directive of the then Minister
